I work in a Cardiology practice where Lasix is given to many patients for the same reason your dog is taking it -- an enlarged heart and fluid overload. It is a diuretic and helps the body get rid of excess fluid.

It is found in combination with a lot of blood pressure medications. I take it for this reason. And, about an hour after I take my pill, I run to the bathroom ever 15 to 20 minutes for the next couple hours.

Your little dog is going to pee a lot (this is what he needs to do) when he takes Lasix. This is why he's taking it. And, believe me ---he can't help it. For me, having to pee, happens all of a sudden - out of nowhere. I couldn't hold it very long if I had to. For this reason, I prefer being home when I take my pill. Work is okay - but I certainly wouldn't want to be on the freeway in my car - that might be a problem!!! Please realize that your little dog can't controll peeing when he is on Lasix. He won't have to go one second and the next, he won't be able to keep from peeing.

You should just put belly bands on him and not worry about it. My Yorkie is a boy - that isn't very housebroken yet. He wears a belly band when he's running around the house or visiting someone. I wrap a small washcloth around him and pin it with a safety pin. I have dozens of these little washcloths and I just throw them in with my laundry. I buy the inexpensive thinner ones. This would be a very easy solution to your problem. You can change them 20 times a day if you need to. I'm sure you can figure out how to put them on. I fold mine diagonally and pull them very tight when I first put them on -- because they stretch when he wears them, and if they weren't tight, he be out of them in a short while.

***** I'm not sure about your dog's other symptoms being related to the Lasix. They may be or may not be. Different people have different side effects to different medications, and I'm sure dogs do too. My daughter doesn't like to take a diuretic (Lasix) -- because they make her just feel "yucky".....really down and almost depressed all day.

Sorry your little guy has so many problems. Keep loving him.
