I think honestly, by what I have seen when I was working, that if it is caused by an accident and not congential you will never see it in both knees.. It is very rare that the dog will cause the same injury to both knees.. I honestly could NOT even breed a grade 1, let alone grade 2,3 or 4.. I also honestly believe that if everyone had the same focus when it come to luxating patellas, it would NOT be such a common problem! JMHO..
