Default show puppies

The link to the YTCA website is an excellent series of pictures.
If you go to this page on my website http://loriben_yorkies.tripod.com/page11.html
you will see pictures of Cora and Matthew at about 4 months of age. The picture of Cora by herself shows her excellent balance.
Liana is about a year or abit more in that picture. All three have their Championships under the Canadian Kennel Club and Matthew is pointed in the US. I am going to show Matthew in the US this year hopefully to his championship. Solo Mio is about 8 weeks in that little picture. Solo Mio was shown, pointed, but I didn't finish her championship. I was too busy showing Matthew and Cora and Solo Mio's face furnishing just were not growing as well as I would have liked for the show rings. However, I bred her and she had two boys. ONe I sold for pet spay/neuter contracts, the other I have kept. He is now 8 months old and a lovely show prospect.
When a litter is born I evaluate them over time for what I might want to sell for pet under spay/neuter contracts, and what i want to keep for show/breeding purposes. Around 4 months is usually my first decision and I run on anything that looks promising. From that age, I determine each week and over the next 6 months which ones are still looking like show quality.
Determining show quality is by attitude, balance, movement, colour (not going too light, shaded furnishings) coat (silk texture rather than soft coated although Liana is soft coated), size (not over or undersized), good front/rear and level topline. Of course, the ears must be erect and it must have a scissor or even bite.
In the Yorkie, determining show quality at any less than about 8 months of age is not a sure thing and prior to 8 months is just a best guess at the time.
