In our previous city, we had a wonderful, honest, non-AAHA accredited vet. He followed the AAHA protocol about vaccines (every three years, no non-core unless requested or indicated). I can't seem to find an equivalent here. At my previous vets office shots were $89 for life (no additional charges) as long as you keep your dog up to date on annual visits.
AAHA is the highest standard in veterinary care. It means the veterinary practice is meeting the gold standard, having met about 900 standards that were developed by (AAHA) to ensure the highest quality of veterinary care. There is also a recertification process to ensure the standards continue to be met on an ongoing basis. The AAHA website has much more info on this topic should you wish to read about it.
