I'm sorry your niece is this way. I know it's probably a touchy subject with her, and I'm glad you go over and take the poor dog for walks. If she wasn't family, I would call the humane society, but you're in a difficult situation since she's family.

The only solution I can think of is to maybe keep after your niece until she lets you find the dog another home, but it sounds like you've tried that and it hasn't worked. Or another thing you might consider is taking the dog yourself, and then finding her another home.

Poor thing. No dog deserves to be treated that way. Some people have no business owning pets of any kind. They just don't seem to care and the poor dog is the one who suffers.
