Maximo is right. Vacuum everything. Fleas like to lay eggs under the cushions of your furniture and along the edges of your walls as well as in the carpeting. Moth balls also work in the vacuum. Make sure when you empty the vacuum that your take the contents outside right away or they will just re-enter your home. July, August and September are usually the worst months for fleas. They can jump on you outside and ride in on your shoes or clothing. One flea can lay hundreds of eggs. I would invest in a flea comb because many times you cannot tell if fleas are on your pet until you comb through their fur and catch them in the comb. If you found that many from a bath you have a problem. When fleas are so prevalent this time of year sometimes the flea meds just don't last the whole month. I use Capstar if If I find fleas in between regular Advantage treatments. Also, fleas cause tapeworms in dogs and cats. After you are sure your pet is flea free you may want to check into some worm treatment from your vet. |
