I have been through a few storms... and I can tell you they are not fun and dangerous. If you stay too long you may not be able to leave, if you get hurt emergency crews may not be able to get to you, and even if you are fine would you really want to be there for the mess afterwards.. it will not be a vacation!

I agree with this. I've had my fair share of hurricanes in both Florida and Louisiana and this storm is a pretty big one. If you wait too long to find out which way the storm is going it's going to be very difficult to leave as many people wait until the last minute. You are not in a place that is safe even if the hurricane gets downgraded.
I just watched updated tracking. The storm center is headed right to the Outer Banks, possibly at a Cat 3. You need to leave now.
