Oh no! I don't think I'd go back to that vet. Any type of persistent scratching means there "is" something going on with you pup. There's a list of things it "could" be and your vet should be active in finding out what it is.

It could be anything from dry skin to allergies from environment or food. It could be insects from outside or detergent you use.

Did you check his ears?

Anyway a couple of my babies had to be put on prednisone (short term) along with an antibiotic and prescribed shampoo. My Mia had an immediate improvement.

Go back and insist that they look him over again or find a new vet.
