If there is an abscess issue or infection, then they would need to be emptied and she would needed something injected. May follow up with oral antibiotics.

Depends how much your vet wants to do back there and their philosophy. My vet doesn't sedate for anals unless restraining isn't working. She'd rather a dog be in pain for a couple minutes than putting them in danger with sedation. However, this is only a call your vet can make.

If my dog had a mild anal issue, they would be taken care of with restraint only if possible, but that is me. I think you need to go with what your vet is saying if you trust them.
