Hair loss is listed as one of the rare side effects of taking Pepcid or drugs in that family. I have long, thick, curly hair, but I haven't noticed any kind of hair loss. My hair isn't as thick as it was when I was young, but I think that may be more general aging. My husband has only been taking Aciphex for less than two years (vs. my taking Pepcid, Prevacid, or Aciphex for over twenty years), and he has a full head of hair with no noticeable recent thinning. Years ago I took a beta blocker for migraine prevention, and I noticed hair loss from that, so we discontinued it. This is the first I've heard of it causing hair loss probably because it is said to be a rare side effect. |
