I have a young son who is 6 and reasonably mature. before Chewy came to us, I spent a lot of time talking to him about the dog. He is very gently with Chewy, but sometimes when he is running around and Chewy is after him I still get a little nervous. I don't think it is for all families. Like the poster mentioned before, when we have another child over I keep Chewy in an xpen in my room and don't let the kids go around him. I also had a Halloween Party here at the house with 15 kids and I had to take Chewy to my neighbor and let him stay there for the duration of the party. I took no chances. I think the main thing is to be careful and teach your kids to respect the animal. |
