I think if it were me, I would place a call to the surgeon who saw her. Tell the surgeon what is going on and ask for suggestions. Perhaps an even lower protein diet or different proteins could work for her. Ask him if a nutrition consult might be worthwhile. I can refer you to a wonderful nutritionist who might be able to help keep her symptoms more manageable if you have exhausted your medical options. For example, putting her on a food that has a different amino acid profile.

But as a very first step, I would call UT and tell them what is going on. I know with my Daisy, diet changes substantially improved the amount of ammonia in her blood by using vegetarian type diets, especially home cooked ones.
