, it can be done for sure. It takes a little longer for one that has been going outside all their life, but it is doable! I trained my 14 year old Maltese to pads, and it did take a few months, but she got it. (her health was declining and i didn't want to make her go out in the cold any more) I kept her in her own separate space during the training, and covered it with pee pads so she would have to use them, and gradually took one a way at a time.
My three current babies, were all trained both ways from puppyhood, so they caught on pretty quickly.
