Colorado River Toads, sometime referred to as the Sonoran Desert Toad, are common to the Sonoran desert area. Very common in the Southwest. They are common to Arizona, California - but I hear there are other similar concerns in your area.
The breeding season just passed and with the rains we see more of them right now. They have glands behind their eyes and secrete a poison for protection. My friends boxer licked one last year and she said it was like her dog was on an acid trip. She flushed her mouth out right away and called her vet. Her boxer was oaky after a few hours. |
