Welcome to YT. Yes, spaying and neutering will help and I would do it if these were my pets. Any 2 dogs have the potential to fight, but my impression reading here is that no one can go at like 2 females. Like some say, they don't call them bitches for nothing.
Separating them, especially when they are not supervised, is a very good idea.
