I adopted a 2 yr. old yorkie from a humane society two months ago and I am still having housetraining difficulties. We take her out frequently, and she typically pees when we tell her to outside but she poops in the house, sometimes shortly after we took her out. We have her on a regular feeding schedule with Science Diet dog food, yet there does not seem to be any pattern in her bowel movements. The biggest problem is that she does not signal when she needs to go out. She won't go by the door, bark, etc. We have been trying to bell train her for weeks now and it hasn't worked. At first she was scared of the bell. Now she is more used to it but still won't ring it on her own without us taking her paw. Any suggestions?

Also, we occasionally will spend a weekend out of town with family or friends and we bring her with us. How can we train her to signal when she is away from home?
