It's not just a yorkie thing. One of my coworkers complained a few months ago that his one-year-old lab had suddenly decided he didn't like his metal bowls.

I am travelling for work with Thor for the summer. I brought his travel bowls with me, which are little metal stackables. When we first got here, I noticed he wasn't eating anything, so I gave him some canned food. He wigged out. He desperately wanted the canned food, but he was afraid of the bowl, and the frustration of it almost made his little head explode. I had never noticed it before because I don't use these bowls often. He's okay if he doesn't have to stick his face in them -- he can drink out of them fine -- but he doesn't like the bowl moving around. I think maybe before when I've used these, they've been on carpet? Anyway, it was a new discovery. I'm using a paper towel at the moment, but I have to find either a little mat for him, or buy another porcelain doggie dish.
