A combination of both!
Positive training with lots of praise and a treat for desireable behaviours like going potty on her pad, sitting, staying, etc. Negative, a firm no followed by ignoring for for a minute or two when she was displaying negative puppy behaviours like biting hands, and wouldn't be distracted from biting, even when given a toy to bite. Both are excellent teaching tools when used appropriately.
