me too! I'll also be looking for help on this one. We've had our new baby Gracie for only 2 weeks and only the other day did she figure out she could jump on the chairs in the room she's confined to (my den/office where she and I live all day). In other areas (pee pad, sleeping in her crate) she's doing great. This is the first activity where the 'bad' behavior comes before the 'good'.
With piddling, we reward her for using the pad. For jumping, I try to keep a close eye on her and utter my 'I disapprove' sound when she looks like she's getting ready to jump, but my goodness, I'm uttering it every second! I hate to start rewarding her for getting down (which she hasn't done yet - I've had to put her down) because for pee pad training she figured out that if she squatted she got a treat so she'd do it even when she didn't need to pee! I don't want to start her thinking that if she jumps up and gets down she gets a treat! Help! |
