I have been giving the mother milk replacer and milkade (by Happy Jack) hoping that will help her let down more milk. I have been raising yorkies for about 4 years and still struggle with the first couple of days and keeping the whole litter alive. I just want advice on when to supplement and when to not supplement and also what you use. THANKS!!
With a litter of 6 you should probably be supplementing now. Your dam should be on a calcium supplement. In addition keeping Oral Cal Plus on hand. Also, giving her several meals a day and a scrambled egg a day. There are a couple of recipes in this forum for whelping pudding both are great for mom.

Canned Goat's Milk with equal parts of distilled water and a bit of Karo is the closest to mother's milk. Also, feeding with a preemie nipple attached to a syringe is a more controlled way of feeding pups; preventing aspiration.
