You should do what you're comfortable with.

Rx diets generally do have plenty of nutrition (even if they contain ingredients that you aren't liking). Some are very low protein (like K/D) and don't meet the AAFCO maintenance level for that nutrient. That doesn't have t do with vitamins and minerals though. Also, there is a reason it is lower in protein and I see this supplements has amino acids. Amino acids make proteins, so I'd have to wonder if that is affecting the final protein count and type of what your K/D pup is supposed to be getting. In a dog with kidney or liver problems, this supplement may not be a good thing. It is not needed for any pup. Also, if there are calories in this supplement, that may need to be taken into consideration when there is a diet in progress.
