You are right they are smarter than you think!
Our Poppy has got very cunning at getting her treats!
It started when we was toilet training her by giving her a treat when she did her business outside. We would let her out first thing in the morning after going through the night without doing anything in the house! She would go about her business and subsequently get a treat for being a good girl. We got suspicious whe she started to squat then look at us for a treat just minutes after her first time! Her downfall came when she acted as if she was going for a wee again then looked at us for a treat! But this time she did it on the patio and there were no signs of any wetting! Could this be her tricking us into giving her a treat and has learned if she squats she gets a treat?
We just laugh now as it so funny when she does it then comes trotting to us all proud of her self and it just shows her cheeky temperament!
