Baking soda is not going to help. You could try a doggy shampoo with baking soda, but the one that PetSmart (Arm & Hammer?) gave me when Max was a pup made my fresh pup smell like yucky wet dog.
I would recommend a regular shampoo and bath once a week. If your dog still smells, I would visit the vet and rule out health problems that are frequently the cause of bad smells.
Petco sells some great products: Espree and SPA. Available online are PetSilk and Chris Christensen Day to Day, and many others.
