Hi everyone
I am new here. I currently have a 5 month old Maltese who is the center of my world. In the future we are going to add another pooch or two-though we're talking a few years here.
I have always loved yorkies, but I admit, that is based off looks alone. I can read all the books and articles I want on temperament but lets be honest-those are all generic descriptions. I would like to hear from all of you about your yorkies. The impression I have so far is that they are just a bit more strong headed than the maltese (generally speaking).
The reason I'm asking is because my husband has had horrible experiences with them. His aunt had one that was a nasty little dog who would growl at people and try to bite them. I have met few, and the few that I have, have been ill behaved in public, and I admit I have not had the chance to get to know one well.
I am assuming, at this point, that these encounters have been due to poor upbringing? I am hoping that's what it is at least, as I would still really like to add one to our home some day.
I also have read a lot about them being incredibly difficult to potty train. This was said about the Maltese as well though, and so far we are doing really good with our Rocky's training. He's five months, and almost there-the accidents we do have, I feel, are human error. Any idea if it's about the same for Maltese vs Yorkie?
