Just showed this to my husband.....he confirms it is bamboo, however does not know what species as there many in the bamboo family. His advice is to take the pic into a nursery and they should be able to identify it. He also said to be careful when planting bamboo as it multiplies rapidly and is difficult to control and should you every want to remove it, difficult to kill.
