We thought it was a bite too. The vets did not put him under though~ it was removed then and there in the office but I think maybe now they know more of the dangers of not removing the entire larvae.
When Fritz had it, it was a botfly caught from being near wild rabbits apparently. The flies lay their eggs beneath the skin f the "host"
