I was in Athens Greece for 8 days in May of this year and saw the exact same thing. It was very sad. They just don't feel the same way about pets and animals in general as we do. Stray dogs were everywhere but you know what the weird part was they knew when to cross the streets. It was like they understood green light go and red light stop. I watched this several times.

I also went to Santorini and Patmos and a few other islands but I didn't see as many stray dogs. Yes I was very saddened by the condition of the dogs and I wish I could no more. Right now the only thing I can do to help is donate to the ASPCA which I do automatically on a monthly basis.

Heck I saw a man, a woman and a child squashed between the two on a scooter on a main highway. If we saw that here, people would have immediately call the cops and child protection services. The child couldn't of been more than 4 or 5 years old. 3 people on a scooter in rush hour on a main road....go figure. Maybe we were just experiencing culture shock and just not used to seeing such things.
