When you see him tonight and tomorrow night, observe him and his behavior. Don't fully let your guard down until you're ready ... I don't want to see you get hurt. Remember to go with your gut too and trust yourself. He does sounds like a really sweet guy but always remember that old saying:
Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on ME!
I'm not saying he will do anything wrong but I'd be angry at him if he hurts you in anyway. But the fact that he's so upset over the thought of losing you really does imply (at least to me) that he is sincere and cares for you. So have fun tonight and tomorrow and then take it from there.
