A few of us have dogs with idiopathic epilepsy, myself included. A dog can only be given this diagnosis when everything else is ruled out. I don't believe that blood work alone can determine that. Max went through blood work and many neurological tests including an MRI and spinal tap. It was only then that he could be diagnosed as having idiopathic epilepsy.

With that being said he takes phenobarbital on a daily basis and is doing quite well.
