zowi has a skin infection and possible eye infection :( i noticed zowi rubbing the top of her head, or possibly her eyes, so i took her to see our wonderful dr yesterday. she has a couple small red spots on top of her head near her eyes. doc said her eyes look great but they have slight inflammation around them... it is not fungal and it is not mites or parasites so that was good news. she said the likely cause is that it is due to her atypical cushing's, cushing's dogs are very prone to skin problems. she has been given antibiotics (simplicef) and an ointment for her eyes (triple abx w/hc) and will be rechecked in a week if it hasn't cleared up. doc said it's really not that bad so she suspects it will clear up without any further problems. usually, a steriod such as prednisone would also be given but with cushing's she cannot have any oral steriods. hoping she is comfortable again very soon!!!!
zowi will have her endogenous acth test sent out to university of tennessee at the end of september to check how she is doing with her melatonin implant. she is continuing her hmr lignans and denamarin daily also. we are truly hoping to see some improvements from this round of testing. please keep my sweet zowi in your thoughts and prayers. thank you!!! |
