I am looking for help!!

Behind my last molar on the bottom my gum is very very sore. I know I do not have wisdom teeth as I have had x-rays and have had my top 2 removed- however, the best way I can describe the pain is like a tooth is coming in. When I look at that area I expect it to be very red but it is not- It hurts when I press down on it with my tongue and is overall quite painful. It went away earlier this week for a couple of days so I thought perhaps I had a popcorn kernel stuck that had found its way out- but alas- it is back. Any thoughts?
