This is the worst time of year for fleas where I live. They love hot dry weather. Some dogs have awful allergies to fleas. Just one flea on them will drive them crazy with itch! I had a dog with this affliction and it is awful. If you have a flea problem you may want to ask you vet for the name of a good fogger for your home. Many of the commercial ones don't work very well. Advantage is a good monthly flea preventative. Sometimes using Capstar to immediately kill all the fleas on the dog is helpful and you can use Advantage at the same time. When our puppy first presented with this flea allergy he had to have a steroid injection to stop the itching. If you have oral allergy tablets they probably need to be used on a regular basis if he is having problems. If it is a flea allergy you will have no more problems once the fleas a totally gone. I know many don't like using chemicals against fleas but after seeing how much our dog suffered from even one flea I was willing to use what the vet recommended to be free of them totally.
