Hi my yorkie also has severe allergies. We had her tested and she gets weekly injections and is also on an RX to help with her weakened immune system to the allergens. It is forever, but it completely changed her back to the happy yorkie she was before. She has multiple allergies some ranging from trees to fleas (she is even allergic to cats, go figure) Does she chew her feet, that can be a sign of allergies. Also there is a shampoo the vets sale, I'm out or I would tell you the name (I can tell you Friday when I go back by there to pick up some more), but I believe it actually has the word VET across it. It is like $10 for a big bottle. It is excellent for allergies and is the only thing that does not irritate her skin. Anything else, oatmeal included makes her even more itchy. Good Luck and if she continues to itch, I would just have her tested. It can run around $250 to have the test ran, but it is definitely worth it. Also we did not get our lil' Pixie until she was 4 months old, her feet had never hit the ground. Once we got her we immediately began taking her on walks allowing her to run in the grass, needless to say the vet said the lack of exposure to the environment when they are younger decreases their chances of building the antibodies against the allergens. So more exposure to grass, trees, etc. can be beneficial in helping her build up her immunity. |
