I'm glad things turned out ok this time. I've actually seen this done with a child. My mom called the cops and waited for the person to come out of the store. The child was only about 1 year old and was in the carseat! WTH!!! This was a while back and the person just got a "warning". At least the windows were down. The baby was crying and my mom just went into the car and took the baby out. She was soothing and talking to the baby until the cops and parent showed up. She was so upset about it for a while. I was with her but I was only about 10 years old at the time.
