Vacationing with the furbabies Yesterday we returned from a 10 day trip with 2 furbabies and a teen girl in the traveltrailer. Thought that I would share some of the things that I found helpful for our trip.
We traveled in a truck, pulling the trailer. Mina (yorkie) in her carseat and Amigo (chihuahua) on a safety tether next to his mommy in the backseat. I kept in the truck for furbabies (waterbottle, treats, chew toys, collapsable waterbowl and leashes). I prefer the smaller collapasable bowl,I found it at Camping World, the area petstores only had the larger bowls. This one fits in the cupholder in the console.
Each of the babies had a wire crate in the trailer, incase we had to leave them.
Mina wears clothes most days and has hair bows to go with her outfits. I put a safety pin on each dress to put the matching hairbow on for packing. I used an older, hard makeup/traincase as a trunk for her things and there was room to spare. It held her clothes, comb, hairbands, toys and her blankets. I found it at GoodWill for $5.00.
We also took a softside play yard that folds down flat, size med. It was worth every penny I spent on it. The babies were safe,in the shade with a mesh net over them as well to keep the bugs out.
We spent an entire day walking Sturgis,SD with the babies in a stroller and they had a blast. They werent walking on the hot pavement or being held by a hot person. They were both tethered in,using the tethers that go in the car. One big ole biker walked by and said "the cutie with the hairbow must be enjoying her first rally". I told him that it wasn't her first rally and she loves the motorcycles.
All in all we had a great time! Mina even spotted a tiny baby squirrel and got to run it up a tree. It would come back down to check her out and she didn't even bark.
I would love to hear what things others have found to make their trips with furbabies easier. |
