He doesnt run free or anything often and I always go outside with him in a leash, he can't get stuck anywhere with the collar so I don't think we need breakaway collars?
Breakaway collars are good if you want to leave a collar on all the time. They aren't for using on a leash though. Some dogs have been known to get their collar caught on something and the pet owner wasn’t home and the dog strangled himself. Breakaway collars prevent that from happening.
