I've been unable to get Teddy to jog at a steady pace with me. However, he loves running full speed and taking a break...and so on so what you can do is run sprints with your dog at a park. Sprints will elevate your heart rate more than jogging will AND will help build muscle mass on your legs which will lead to more calorie burning in the long run Hope that helps somewhat.

ETA: This is just my personal experience with Teddy. All dogs are different
