My little ten year old guy has a history of pancreatits and bladder stones. I try to keep a very close watch on him. He is on WD diet with NOTHING and I mean NOTHING else to eat.
Yesterday at 1:00 he threw up what appeared to be undigested can food.
I cut back on his dinner food.
At 6:00 his poop had some blood in it.
I called the Vet (Saturday night so no one in office) She told me if he had any more problems to take him to ER.
At 2:30 AM he woke me up. Bloody diarrehea. I got him to the ER as soon as possible..had to get a friend to drive us.
ER Vet said I was very observant because most people would not have even noticed the blood it was such a small amount.
She said the cPL (pancreasis) when read by machine was abnormal. But when visually looking at the test both the control dot and the sample dot were equal in color. She did not seem to be convinced that this problem was the pancreas.
She said he has Giardia (He never drinks pond water so I don't know how/why he would have Giardia)
They put him on Metronidazole and Panacur.
He has been very quiet all day...very unusual for him. He is so happy and so hyper...never still. He is really scaring me. I called my Vet because I have to be at a meeting all day tomorrow (no possible way to reschedule) I asked if I could drop my little boy off for observation and he said "yes". He also told me he did not thik it was giardia. He did not say what it was just that it probably was NOT Giardia.
Now, I am REALLY scared. Do you think it could be something WORSE than giardia. I am so afraid of losing him. He is so precious to me. I recently lost my husband and this little guy is such a special link with my husband I panic anytime he shows any sign of sickness.
Any suggestions? Any Ideas?? How scared should I be? If there was ANY way I could skip tomorrow's meeting I would....but if I do my job will be in jeopardy.
