I would definitely get a second opinion.

If he has had shots recently, I would be suspect. My son's dog had a similar problem some time ago and it turned out to be cutaneous vasculitis. The vet he uses was not on the day he took her in and the vet who saw her thought it was a burn...he told her no way, she was not burned. Anyway...they put her on prednisone for a week...once they took her off it started up again. He went back and the regular vet was in and when she saw her, she knew immediately what it was. Prednisone was prescribed for one month and she did clear up. This is not a frequent occurence and I think some vets are not familiar with it. Not saying that is what is going on with your pup....just suggesting another opinion. Good luck!
