Sometimes when pets don't eat well, caretakers give human food, and pets learn very fast to hold out for human food. People don't always like to admit to doing this, and may say they didn't give any human food, unless you make them feel like it's safe to tell you. This is my guess of what may be happening. Also, it sounds like she did enjoy the trip to your moms, maybe a walk would stimulate her appetite a little?
