oh I am so sorry you had this terriable experience!!
I am had some of the same experiences when my girls were young, like people who don't have dogs or children don't understand. To be honest now that I don't have small children I forget what it is like... so don't be too hard on your mother. I am sure she feels bad now.
I just bought a portable soft sided travel crate (I think Jersey boy is the one who posted the info), I plan on using now that I have to "visit" my in law a lot.
Hope all is well... glad he did not eat the pills!!
