Hi all - I have had Yorkies for the past 25 yeasrs and have never had an issue with the baby teeth not falling out on their own. After reading many threads about having the baby teeth pulled during spay/neuters I asked a friend about her 1 year old Yorkie. Her little Yorkie is about 3lbs and her baby teeth, other than the front ones, did not fall out and now she is going to have to have them pulled.
My questions (and yes they may be stupid):
- Is this something that is more common with smaller yorkies?
- Is there anything that may help the babies loose their teeth naturally? (They get chewies when I am with them daily - either bully sticks, rawhides or booda bones. When they get rawhides, I am constantly cutting off soft pieces so they do not bite off and swallow.)
- Is this something that is related to better nutrition with our babies?
Max has lost his small bottom baby teeth and a few of the top ones - he is 5 months old and this seems about normal to me. Abby is 2 weeks younger and not giving up any of her teeth yet
Course, these are my first fur-babies I have ever had that like to eat their poop, so who knows what else they will do
