I am no longer going to put him in situations where a lot of terrible food is "available" to him, for one. If he comes with me to a family get-together, he's going to be leashed up to me the whole time. That's a new rule I've set in place. I have given my whole family who sees him often a set of rules that he is never to be given anything from them. They've all been very good and even my 3 1/2 year old sister is learning to pick her plate/food/etc up and put it away when she's done. She was very worried about Jackson. I think this will all be for the better anyway -- my dads dogs are no longer getting people food. My dad has decided it's simply not worth it. So hopefully his dogs will become healthier as well.
I've only had problems with one person and that's my father-in-law. My own children KNOW not to feed table scraps, but when I saw my fil feeding Joey powdered donuts I about died. So I don't envy you, some people have feed their dogs crap for 10 years and their dogs did fine, but Yorkies are one of the breeds whose digestive system is a little trickier, and that's probably why so many people have such diverse thoughts about diet.
