Several years ago, my precious Miki passed away at 17 years old. I tried several times to take him to be peacefully put down, but every time I would put him in the car, he started with this shreaking cry and I would bring him back in. It was clear he wanted to spend his final hours at the only home he had ever known. One morning I put him in my lap and was watching the morning news. He crawled up close to my neck, licked my face twice,looked into my eyes and softly passed away on my shoulder. I have never forgotten that moment. His final thought and act was to show he loved me and to say goodbye. It gives me great peace that my little friend gave me such a wonderful gift. I hope you can find the same peace.
