I have had pups get majorly stuck and had to rush to the vet..the mothers life as a rule is not in danger because a pup is stuck..there is usually plenty of time to get to the vet. Most often labor stops and the stuck pup may die ...but no way am I cutting into the vulva of my bitch to remove a puppy.

I am having a hard time sitting on this chair thinking about all this...LOL
I agree with you on all that believe me. When I said life or death I was thinking the only way I would UNDERSTAND The need is if the vet was closed and it was a snow storm and the bitch was in danger. I assumed the bitch's life could be lost if a pup was stuck. In that case I could understand why someone would do it but I can tell ya it wouldn't be me. I have to stand way while the initial incision for c-section is done after that I'm OK but I can't watch the actual cut..makes me light headed..lolol.
But yea, I've had more than on breeder mention doing their own episiotomy!
