I have a 3 year old that doesn't bark. He was almost 2 when he started barking, and he still only does it on rare occasions. To be fair, I've only had him since his first birthday. He is a very quiet dog. I'm with your vet, be thankful your little one isn't a barker. When mine barks, I tell him he's a good boy. He wags his tail and is off to do mischievous things quietly.
