I have just been keeping the hair trimmed around the ears. It has been heck trying to tip them as both of my babies like to act like I am chopping a foot off or something when I try to work on their ears. When I first got them, Max looked like a jackel with his huge ears before I trimmed the excess hair. Abby's ears were both down and after I trimmed them they popped up.

The ears sometimes fall when they are teething and loosing their teeth. One of my previous yorkies had one ear up and one ear down - just added to her little personality. The only thing I noticed, I had to clean the ear more - with the ear down she used to get some ear build up. It was gross the first time the vet cleaned her ear out, but after that it was not bad at all. She used to run up to me when I got the Q-Tip out to clean her ear. I started calling her thumper because one of her back legs would thump when I cleaned out her ear. As will people ears, you have to be careful not to stick the Q-Tip in to far.
