Max is the self-titled king of eye problems, so I feel for Layla. Did your vet do an eye stain to rule out corneal scratch or ulcer? Itchy and closed a bit are often symptoms. Are the drops an antibiotic? Sometimes vets will prescribe drops that include other things that can inhibit healing.

Max had an infection of unknown origin in one of his eyes and it required 10 days of a drop that was a combo steroid/antibiotic because the simple antibiotic didn't help. An ulcer and scratch must be ruled out before using this, otherwise damage can be done to the eye, or things can get worse.

Testing for dry eye would also be a good idea. When the eye is dry, it will produce green/yellow mucous to protect itself. The Schirmer Tear test has to be done before the fluorescein stain.

Just some thoughts. I know how frustrating eye things can be.
