After Katrina had to redo the whole house had carpet throughout except bathrooms and kitchen. Now have hardwood thoughout and ceramic tiles in kitchen and bathrooms. If ever we have water again I think we'll just go with ceramic tile throughout. But the hardwood is great it has been down now about 5 years and still shines I use a dust mop and a steam cleaner easy as pie. And yes we still have accidents every now and then but the cleanup is super easy.
