I imagine your mom might be feeling bad about reacting like this, and perhaps theres a way to inform her that there's better ways of disiplining dogs. Also, are you even sure the dogs were fighting, sometime dogs play fight, is one of the dogs much bigger or more aggressive than the other. The problem with hitting a dog, is you are sure to make them aggressive. Your dog probably believes your mom bit him, and she taught him, that's okay behavior. Dog are leery of human hands because they think they are mouths. No pain should ever be assoicated with your hands, if Callie starts biting, you'll know why. I hope someone can give you better advice, I know you must feel awful. I would rather put Callie in a kennel than have her hit like this.

I'm 23 and in some ways I am a lot younger then my age I have anxiety and some other problems including depression and my family knows Callie is my life and what keeps me going. Honestly I think my mom may be bipolar shes had highs and lows sense I can remember some of the lows were bad very bad its one of the reasons I live with my grandparents. I know every one says they have a good dog but Callie really is a good dog she likes everyone so much and when the vet gives her shots or was even checking out her shoulder when it was hurting Callie will just lick the vet and let her do what she has to. I'm so confused because when Callie got spayed 3 years ago my mom was crying with me when we had to leave her at the vet, when the vet made Callie cry out when she was checking her shoulder my mom cried then too, and both times Callie had to be sedated one for shoulder xrays and the other to have her dew claw nerve cut back my mom was crying when Callie was so limp and sleepy in my arms. If she loves Callie so much to cry when shes hurt and stuff why on earth would she hit her? My stomach is hurting so bad I feel like I am going to throw up.
